Looking forward to beginning this journey, spending time with friends and driving the country.

A trip to the west coast and back in our Porsche road cars has been in the back of our minds for many years. Last September, a casual remark, "You know, one of these days we ought to do a "breakfast" run from here to the west coast and back," led to the response, perhaps paraphrased, "Yes, we'll do it next year the week after labor day, September 8, 2014." Within a few days, invitations were being made and the trip was locked in. Since then, the driver list and date have been modified. The starting time is September 3, 2014 at 7 AM.

The basic tenets of the trip are to get off the beaten path, explore the parts of America rarely experienced by "outsiders", experience interesting driving roads, cafes, motels and people. So, we will avoid express ways, highly populated areas, chain restaurants and motels, and the Corn Palace. We will experience Going to The Sun Road, Olympic Peninsula, Highway 1 on the west coast, Tioga or Sonora Pass, The Loneliest Road in America, The Million Dollar Highway, and the Tail of the Dragon, many friendly and interesting people, and will learn much about and see much of our country that is not in the news or on the tourist lists.
