We are in Oregon now. To cross into Oregon from Washington you have to cross the Columbia River. What a magnificent sight crossing the bridge over the river. As a kid I was always fasinated with the Columbia River it's salmon runs and the daming of the river. To see it at it's mouth was awesome.
Oregon beaches are very accessible and you have them to yourself. Swimming is not advisable as the water temp has to be in the high 40's at best. It's like sticking your foot in a bucket of ice water.  We met a surfer who came out here from New Jersey 12 years ago and never returned. He got himself a job counting salmon to help assess the strength of the resource.
Tomorrow we go down to the Coos Bay Area and will undoubtedly have to endure more outrageously beautiful beaches.   Oh well.  Oh and the weather continues to be outstanding with the promise of continued great weather thru the weekend and into next week.
